Evie is 35 weeks! Hooray! Getting closer and closer all of the time, although this baby seems to be slower than Christmas! :)
At 35 weeks Evie should be about 18 inches long and the size of a honeydew melon!
Right now she should be starting to get cramped and uncomfortable in there! Me too little bit, me too!
Evie should be weighing in at 5 1/4 lbs. This is of course an average, but when Chris and I went in for an unscheduled ultrasound and biophysical profile and nonstress test on Evie on Tuesday (02/15) we found out that Evie is only weighing in at 5 lbs and is measuring at 33 weeks and 5 days. The tests and ultrasound were done at 34 weeks and 6 days. This means she is measuring one week and one day less than she should, and it is nothing to be concerned about. However, because it is one week small they could change my due date back a week(PLEASE PLEASE NO!!!) It also puts Evie in the 25 percentile overall and means that we are having a "small baby". Given the size of Chris and me this comes as little surprise except for the fact that the last ultrasound showed a much bigger baby. I guess we won't really know until she decides to make her appearance. However, the "big baby" news was shocking to me and the "small baby" news was kind of more what I expected. I'm still thinking we will have somewhere around a 6 pounder.
They also discovered the reason that I am measuring so big. I have a huge amount of amniotic fluid. I am right on the upper limits of normal so they won't worry and may not even check me again. This also allows me to feel Evie to move more frequently and more distinctly than most moms at 35 weeks. Which, while sometimes I want a break, is pretty cool! It also means I will probably really really know it when my water breaks. Which is good -- I don't do well with the wait and see stuff.
Chris and I are about 90% ready for baby. Her room is all set up, except we still need a diaper pail, her breathable bumpers and to hang a few more items. All in all about 2 hours work, which will hopefully be finished by Sunday. THEN, I will post pictures of her nursery. We also need to get her closet organized, which won't take me very long. All of her clothes and blankets and other soft items have been washed and are waiting for her arrival. Her diaper bag is packed and ready to go to the hospital. Chris' bag and my bag are packed (except a few personal items I still need to buy). We also have a list of items that we use daily and cannot be packed, BUT we do need or want at the hospital as well as their locations in the house hanging on the fridge. Our "Prepared Parenthood" class is this weekend at the hospital. After all of that we should be ready for the arrival of Evelyn Grace Evans! I can't wait!
35 weeks down, 5 weeks to go!
side note about the percentile: Some people have already gasped their concern and displeasure at a baby in the 25th percentile. That's so small, they will say, aren't you worried? To those people I say, no I am not worried. I am SHORT (in case you missed the memo) and my mom and dad are SHORT. My husband is SHORT. My brother (closest person genetically to me) is not short, but not tall either, and this is only because he took HGH shots from about age 3 until sometime in his teens. The chances of me having a BIG baby were, ummm, slim to none and slim ain't lookin' so good. All the 25 percentile means is that out of 100 babies 75% are bigger than Evie and 24% are smaller. That is it. Hmmmph.
